RISHI SUNAK – NEW PRIME MINISTER OF UK

Indian-origin Rishi Sunak will be the new Prime Minister of Britain. Earlier, Penny Mordaunt withdrew from the race to become the leader of the Conservative Party. Former finance minister Sunak (42) won easily. More than half of the Conservative Party’s 357 MPs supported him. To become the leader of the party, Rishi Sunak needed the support of at least 100 MPs.

Rishi Sunak addressed Britain after being elected PM. He said that I am humbled and honored to have the support of my parliamentary colleagues and to be elected as leader of the Conservative and Unionist Party. This is the greatest fortune of my life. For which I am very grateful. Rishi Sunak will take oath as PM on October 28 and the cabinet can be formed on October 29.
